Beyoncé brought the 94th Annual Oscar Awards to life, opening the awards ceremony with a stunning live performance of her nominated song, “Be Alive.”

The 40-year-old hitmaker brought down the house with the very first performance of her powerful ballad that was featured in the Venus and Serena Williams-produced film, King Richard. The sisters introduced Beyoncé who video-tapped the performance from the tennis courts in the world-class athletes’ hometown of Compton, California.

The movie –– which has already snagged several critical awards this season –– chronicles the sisters’ journeys through the lens of their father, Richard Williams’ (played by Will Smith) push to get them to excel in the sport.

Beyoncé earned her first Oscar nomination for the track, which was co-written by singer-songwriter Dixson.

Beyoncé stunned in a perfectly colored yellow-green feathered and sequined ensemble. Background performers –– dancers and musicians –– paid tribute to the Williams sisters’ iconic beaded hairstyles.
