The goods were found in a warehouse on the West Side of Chicago.
The Chicago police shut down a major operation this week when they uncovered a warehouse loaded with $5 million worth of stolen products. The stolen goods included Nike, Adidas, Supreme, and UGG apparel.
CBS Chicago reported on Monday (Oct. 9) that the police traced the operation back to the Austin neighborhood in Chicago. The products were reportedly lifted from rail cars that were transporting them to retailers in the United States and taken to a warehouse on the West Side of Chicago. The warehouse served as the criminals’ base of operation and storage location.
There was a cargo theft reported in the area which was the catalyst for police ultimately discovering the warehouse. They issued a search warrant and found all of the stolen goods. “Whether it be Nike products or UGG products or Adidas or Supreme, a lot of massive amounts of property, it’s probably close to $5 million in merchandise, minimum,” Tom Heroin, Lyons Police Chief, said.
Two people have received charges for the criminal operation, and multiple others are still being investigated.
